We were asked by the University of Oxford to rebuild their Oxford Today alumni magazine in Drupal in preparation for the rebuild and redesign of their main site.
Client: Oxford Today (University of Oxford)
Role: Front end lead
This project was our first project for with Oxford University. The brief was pretty simple, rebuild our current Oxford Today website again but in Drupal.
I was front end lead so I started by picking out all of the styles of the old site and coding them into LESS variables. Once we had the basic styling, I could direct other developers to my code to build on it when styling the feature they were working on. I then carried on working to develop the Drupal and theming side of things with my colleagues until we had finished all the features.
At the end of the project I had a number of design, UX and accessibility concerns with the design we had copy and sent them over to the client for consideration.
The client was please with the overall work. Later, I was asked to work making the website responsive but this was some time after the initial build. It would have been more advantageous and quicker to this before hand but client didn’t have the budget. I design and developed the mobile and tablet styling along with the menus.
Key tasks carried out:
- Close work with other developers
- Hand coded copy of older design but with robust code
- Responsive retrofit for mobile and tablet
- Drupal site building
- Delivery project within time frame and budget
